Hi! Welcome to the official home on the web for Wicket and Imp!
Now, in case you're new
to the Wicket and Imp universe, you're probably wondering "what
the hell is Wicket and Imp?" Honestly, there are nights I wonder
the same thing.
What
is Wicket and Imp? It's a self published comic book series by me,
Jon Kulczar. The series began back in 1996. At the time, it was
done as a
final project for a class on Vampires I was taking at Indiana University.
Yeah,
you read that right, a class on vampires. It was an elective, so
shush. Through
the course of creating the small strip, I quickly fell in love with
the universe
I'd started creating, and decided at some point to redo the art
and evolve
the story a bit.
It
was, and is still, a labor of love. It has to be, since I've been
doing it for 12
years now.
What
is Wicket and Imp? It's the story of what happens when a young
man named Jon is mugged and beaten nearly to death. The brutal attack
causes him to enter into a coma, but it also unleashes something
dark
and sinister into the unsuspecting world. Jon's mind, like most
everyone's, was
a home of great love, and great darkness. That darkness, his nightmares
and fears, escaped into the real world and found host bodies, or
took
physical form. In both cases, what was formed is traditionally known
as
super villains.
To
combat this new evil, two heroes are called forth: Wicket and Imp.
Wicket:
once a teddy bear that Jon treated as an old friend. Now, Wicket
has
been given life, personality, and brought with him an odd sense
of humor, and
a love for guns.
Imp:
once a doodle in a middle school notebook. Now, Imp has been torn
from the notebook paper and given life, purpose, and brought with
him a
phallic shaped nose.
Their
mission seems simple: To combat the dark imaginaries. This is their
story, their quest, their insanity. What awaits them are hordes
of vampiric
swine, athlete's feet demons, dirty bowling shoes, psychotic house
cats,
militant penguins, golf courses, well, the list could go on and
on. It will not
be easy for them, but they have one intangible on their side: their
sense
of humor.
That,
in a nutshell, is Wicket and Imp. This is their online home. On
this
site you'll find bios, pictures, web strips, pages, and fan art
from the series.
You'll be able to sneak peek pages from the comics, discuss the
comics, as well
as buy the comics. Most of all, this is a site for you to share
in the love I have
for Wicket and Imp. They are my children, my creations, and extensions
of
me.
I
